........................................WHY DO CITY YEAR?

City Year is an intensive and challenging programme that offers young people:
- Life-changing service experience that transforms schools and communities
- An intensive year of leadership training and skills development that can enhance educational and employment opportunities
- An opportunity to work in a diverse team with people from all backgrounds, and to form life-long friendships
WHAT DO SERVICE LEADERS DO? Through an integrated service-learning programme, City Year Service Leaders mentor children and conduct after school programmes, lead citizens in community service initiatives, and work on other critical issues facing children and communities. At the same time, they develop the skills and knowledge to enhance their learning and employment opportunities upon completing the programme.
Service Leaders are trained to work in schools and communities and receive training towards a Qualification in Project Management as well as Computer Literacy.
Through service and training, City Year Service Leaders are better prepared for life after City Year, regardless of what professions or fields of study they decide to pursue. City Year is committed to helping its graduates to identify employment, training and/or entrepreneurial opportunities upon exiting the programme.
